Back to Blogger Comments …

February 11, 2014

Unfortunately, the use of more elaborate commenting schemes was slowing down the blog.  So, we’re back to Blogger comments for now.  Unfortunately, that means many pearls of wisdom posted on the blog are not fully lost, but also may not be visible to the public.  If some one of your comments is gone and you want to repost it, please feel free.

Google Reader Replacement – Feedly?

April 9, 2013

I have enjoyed using Google Reader for keeping up to date with various blogs and other websites.  However, Google is apparently going to discontinue this product.  The heir apparent seems to be Feedly, which seems to be able to synch with Google Reader, and has nice apps for mobile devices.  I’m not certain what will happen to Feedly when Google retires, though.

I hope that the 548 of you who subscribe to this blog in Google Reader will be able to find a suitable replacement.  I know I don’t always post regularly enough to give readers a reason to come here each day for something new, and feed readers can be a nice alternative to manually going to the site and checking for new posts, day after day, or hour after hour.

Assuming it doesn’t get too spammy, suggestions for other alternatives are welcome in the comment box.

Reciprocal Links and the Future of this Blog

June 4, 2012

I really appreciate the many readers of this blog, both friendly and unfriendly, in agreement and out of agreement, foreign and domestic. A lot of you have kindly put me in a blog roll or otherwise posted a link to my blog on your site. I have tried to reciprocate with a link back in the sidebar of my main page. If you have linked to me, and you haven’t received a link bank, please let me know.

I am not sure what the future holds for this blog. I plan to continue blogging to the glory of God, the edification of the saints, and the evangelisation of the unbelieving. I also plan to continue debating, whenever the opportunity arises. I plan to remain pseudonymous for the time being, although I’m constantly aware of the fact that my pseudonymity is something that is mostly out of my hands.

I would love to hear from readers of this blog regarding their, i.e. your, thoughts for the future of this blog.

Google+ Integration?

December 14, 2011

Blogger seems to indicate that there is some new integration with Google+.  So, if you are one of the millions of people who use Google+, you should be able to get my blog posts in my Google+ stream, if you have appropriately included me in your circle(s).  We will see how that goes.

Recent Email from a Friend’s Account

October 12, 2011

Someone claiming to be my friend and writing from my friend’s account wrote:

We’re writing this with tears. My family and i made a quick trip to Madrid Spain on a short vacation and we got mugged at the park of hotel where we stayed. Worse of it was that our bags, cash and credit cards were all stolen at GUNPOINT leaving us penniless right now.
It’s was a horrible experience for us and we need help flying back home, the authorities are not being 100%  supportive but the good thing is that we still have our passports. we need some cash to settle our bills and get on flight back home. please let us know if you can help.
We’re freaked out at the moment..

[name of victim and his wife]

Now, I know for a fact this friend is perfectly well and sitting at home on the other side of the world.  There’s no possible way this email is true.  It’s the work of someone resourceful attempting to trick my friend’s friends into sending money under false pretenses.  It’s fraud.  Very serious and disturbing fraud.

It’s not as bad fraud as claiming to be the earthly head of Christ’s church, but it’s fraud nonetheless.

Thanks to My Readers

September 14, 2011

Sitemeter informs me that since the beginning of records, this blog has received over 300,000 visits and over half a million page views.  I really appreciate those folks who have read and promoted this blog, and I hope that those half a million page views have been edifying to those who read.  I’m also appreciative of the thousands of comments that have been provided during that time.

Blogger Issues

May 13, 2011

Blogger had some significant service disruptions this past week, and it seems to have damaged a variety of blogs, including this one. From what I can see, the only casualties have been comments, but there may be posts missing as well (I’m told that such things happened to other bloggers).

Trying Out WordPress

October 19, 2010

I’m not really sure whether Blogger or WordPress is a better blogging platform. In the short term, I’m going to continue blogging here and occasionally updating the WordPress blog. Unsurprising the other blog is at

Feel free to use whichever you like, though most of my attention is on this blog for right now.
